"Dovetail" assembly technique

Once put close to each one, the quarry stones are linked together with a system of postive oak parts that fit into a negative shape carved in the stone. Today, most of these wooden elements have disappeared. Their special form is like a double dove tail, in French called "queue d'aronde". Aronde is an ancient french name for a dove.
